THE ART QUILT

The Art Quilt is a contemporary example of traditional craft:

meticulous hand sewing combined with strong durable construction.

There is a mechanical chaos to these quilts, a monotonous filling of the surface with repetitive minute detail--

an ordered rhythmic variation between the empty space and the fullness of the prints.

The prints and images are used interchangably,

showing up as stark compositions, mirrored in placement,

or an infinitely deep spectrum of layers, colors, shapes, and textures.

Each step in the creation of these quilts is done by hand. Quilt stitches sewn free-hand.
