THE ART QUILT |
The Art Quilt is a contemporary example of traditional craft: |
meticulous hand sewing combined with strong durable construction. |
|
There is a mechanical chaos to these quilts, a monotonous filling of the surface with repetitive minute detail-- |
an ordered rhythmic variation between the empty space and the fullness of the prints. |
|
The prints and images are used interchangably, |
showing up as stark compositions, mirrored in placement, |
or an infinitely deep spectrum of layers, colors, shapes, and textures. |
|
Each step in the creation of these quilts is done by hand. Quilt stitches sewn free-hand. |
